EDUCATIONAL, RECREATIONAL, WILDERNESS/CONSERVATON PROGRAMS 

 THE FOLLOWING PROGRAMS WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR THE SPRING AND SUMMER, 2025

SPRING

COMPUTERS, IT, AI, AND SOCIAL MEDIA- This is a very compelling program that gives an overview and insight into how all of these new technologies can be used.

ADVANCED COMPUTER WORKSHOP-  This program will include coding and hands-on labs and projects.

 

SUMMER

WILDERNESS SURVIVAL July 6-7 and 20-21, August 3-4 and 17-18  We leave Westport at 7 a.m. and travel to our base at Mt. Washington, MA, for a camping and “survival” weekend. Our campers will not bring sleeping bags, tents, cooking and eating utensils, food or drinks of any kind. Only medium-weight clothes are required.  Campers will learn how to find water, edible food (vegetarian except for a few select insect species, warmth, and comfort. There will be a meeting of parents and campers on the preceding Thursdays at 7 pm at 66 Weston Road, Westport, CT.  The numbers will be limited to ten campers.

BEE-KEEPING  July 19, August 23 (Friday) We will meet at Mohonk at 9 AM and travel to Mt Washington, MA to learn how to make a beehive and make honey. We will visit a Bee-hive organization and taste the honey of our labor.  We will return by 8 PM

ENANGERED SPECIES July 13,  August 10 (Saturdays).  We will meet at Mohonk at 9 AM and travel to Mt Washington, MA where 89 endangered species are known to exist.  We will do our best to locate as many as possible.  This will take much guidance from our experts and campers will learn about conservation efforts in the Berkshires that are relevant to where the students live.

 

 

VOLUNTEERS AND EMPLOYMENT

Please remember we are always considering volunteers and employment for those who are interested in participating in Mohonk’s far-reaching programs and offerings to the public.  Employees are paid a base salary plus they receive 100% of the costs that participants and clients pay Mohonk. 

PROFESSIONAL TRAINING 

Mohonk offers professional training for child-caring professionals. These programs W will provide housing and  for  In 2025 our  first program is an in depth training and covers six weeks followed by the opportunity to practice what they have learned as an intern or volunteer at the Yale Child Study Center or work with the international Save the Children organization in Fairfield, Connecticut and the Westport Rotary Club. Both programs are involved in countries that Mohonk plays an active part in and Mohonk provides financial support to them.  In those programs the goal is to develop new programs for children overseas in conjunction with th programs that they. The cost of this training is free for international professionals especially teacher, child-care professionals and others with a special; interest in homeless, orphaned and abused children.  Successful completion of this course will be the Certificate in Child Development  Anonlin cours will bgin

Our next two six week sessions will begin on February 4 and June 10, 2025, and      three two week sessions are being planned for the summer of 2025
