Mohonk offers the first of its kind training for professionals who work with children. This includes teachers, social workers, child-care workers, psychologists and, yes, parents. The training is based upon what we call brain-based methods. If you read the first chapter of our attached book, you will get an overview of what brain-based methods are all about. These methods draw from many different, most or possibly all, theories of teaching and therapy. But it does not stop there. That is because brain-based methods reflect scientifically known ways the human brain functions in the daily lives of humans, especially with children. This is unique and is not limited by the much more theoretical methods used by other methods.
Our training programs typically last five weeks, and we offer these programs to educators and child-caring professionals overseas. For those participants who live outside Connecticut, New York, and Massachusetts, and especially overseas we provide housing, meals and also transportation for those who come from other countries. These programs are intensive and also involve meetings at programs that are involved with children directly such as the Yale Children Guidance and Study Center through research such as at the Harvard Graduate School of Education and their Mind, Brain, and Education department as well as organizations that focus on children worldwide, such as UNICEF in New York City, and the Save the Children Foundation in Connecticut. For a more detailed itinerary please let us know and we will send you the current itinerary for our first program for 2025. The cost of this training is free for international professionals, especially teachers, child-care professionals, and others with a special interest in homeless, orphaned, and abused children in their countries. Successful completion of this course will be a Certificate in Child Development and Course Completion, and we will also continue to help and offer some sponsorship at those schools and programs that are interested in applying our brain-based methods.
